I’ve always LOVED to dance. Invite me to your reception and play some great music, and you will find me on the dance floor all night. Play not so great music?? I’ll still find a way to make it work! So, of course, Zumba was a perfect opportunity for me to dance AND get an awesome workout!
After having my second son, I expressed an interest in getting certified, and my husband (who is always my cheerleader!) signed me up for a an instructor class in 2013 and I’ve been hooked ever since! I danced in my car the entire 2 1/2 hour drive home from the class and got stared at, giggled at, and even danced with by so many of the cars passing by. But I didn’t care! I was having so much fun.
I learned something simple but profound that day. Fitness is about YOU. What makes YOU feel good. So many people tell me they have no rhythm, they can’t dance…I’ve heard it all. NONE of that matters in my class. We’re here to have fun and cheer each other on! If you “mess up”…we’ll call it a free style! That’s what I do when I forget the steps sometimes (which will absolutely happen!) Another thing, fitness is so much more important than just for physical health! At this point in my life- I find it equally as important, if not more so, for my mental health. It’s such a stress relief. We’re here to support each other! Let’s dance!
When I’m not dancing, I’m drinking coffee and working behind the scenes at our little crêpe and coffee shop here in Midland. I’m a mother of 3 and wife to a pretty awesome hubby. We love traveling, hiking the Porkies, and legos!
